Jakarta, Warganet – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has some good news for families traveling by train. In celebration of the 2026 National Children’s Day, KAI has now added children’s play areas at 40 stations across Indonesia to make train travel more fun and comfortable.
This initiative is part of KAI’s effort to make stations more family-friendly. With these play areas, kids can play, get creative, and spend quality time with their families while waiting for their train—so the wait feels a lot more enjoyable.
The play areas are now available at 40 stations across 13 Operational Areas and Regional Divisions in Java and Sumatra. Some of them include Gambir, Pasar Senen, Bandung, Garut, Cirebon, Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Madiun, Surabaya Gubeng, Malang, Padang, Kertapati, and Tanjungkarang Stations.
This also supports the 2026 National Children’s Day campaign, which encourages kids to spend less time on screens and enjoy more real-life play. The hope is that these play areas can help children stay active, socialize, and experience the excitement of train travel in a fun way.
Besides play areas, KAI is also continuing to improve other family-friendly facilities. Right now, there are breastfeeding rooms at 135 stations to support nursing mothers, and accessible toilets at 56 major stations to make travel easier for passengers with disabilities, including children and families.
These improvements come as more people choose trains for travel. In the first semester of 2026, long-distance and local trains served 29,858,267 passengers, up 8.72 percent compared to the same period last year.
KAI remains committed to making train travel more comfortable, inclusive, and enjoyable. The goal is for train journeys to be more than just transportation—they should also be meaningful family moments from the station all the way to the destination.
To keep things safe and comfortable for everyone, KAI also reminds parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children while they’re in the play areas, help maintain cleanliness, and follow station staff instructions.
