MEDAN, Indonesia, Warganet – Banyuasin Regency is inviting domestic and international investors to develop a high-value coconut downstream industry, positioning the sector as one of its flagship investment opportunities during the 2026 Sumatra Investment Day (SID).
The investment forum, which brings together regional governments and investors, served as a strategic platform for Banyuasin to showcase its economic potential, particularly in coconut downstream processing, as a driver of sustainable growth in Sumatra.
During his presentation, Banyuasin Regent Askolani said the regency has vast coconut plantations with steadily growing production, providing a strong foundation for value-added industries. Potential products include coconut oil, Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), coconut shell charcoal, coco fiber, coco peat, and other export-oriented derivatives.
“Banyuasin has enormous coconut potential that is ready to be developed into a value-added industry. We invite investors to join us in building a coconut downstream industry in Banyuasin, enhancing regional competitiveness while creating benefits for the local community,” Askolani said.
He noted that Banyuasin’s strategic location, supported by transportation access, proximity to industrial estates and the Tanjung Api-Api Port, as well as the availability of land and raw materials, makes the regency an attractive investment destination.
Askolani added that the Banyuasin administration is committed to fostering a conducive investment climate through simplified licensing procedures, fast and transparent public services, and legal certainty for businesses. The regency also continues to strengthen cooperation with the central and provincial governments, along with other stakeholders, to accelerate investment realization.
“Through Sumatra Investment Day, we want to demonstrate that Banyuasin is not only rich in natural resources but is also ready to become a strategic partner for investors. Coconut downstream processing is one of the flagship investment opportunities we offer to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic growth,” he said.
Beyond coconut processing, Banyuasin is also promoting investment opportunities in agriculture, plantations, fisheries, livestock, energy, industrial estates, natural resource downstream industries, and tourism.
“All of these sectors offer promising prospects and significant added value for both investors and the people of Banyuasin. With such strong potential, we are confident Banyuasin can become one of the leading investment destinations in Sumatra,” Askolani concluded.
The regent was accompanied at the event by Banyuasin Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) Head Rayan Nurdiansyah, Regional Secretariat Protocol and Communications Division Head Hasan Asari, and other government officials.
