Palembang, Warganet – The Women Crisis Center (WCC) Palembang held a public awareness campaign introducing Cindo-Pads, an eco-friendly reusable cloth sanitary pad, during the Car Free Day event at KIF Park Kambang Iwak, Palembang, on Sunday (July 26, 2026). The initiative aimed to improve women’s understanding of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), with a particular focus on menstrual health.
WCC Palembang Director Yessy Ariyani said the campaign was part of a collaborative effort between WCC Palembang and Rumah Berlindung Palembang. She explained that the program was designed to provide comprehensive education for women of reproductive age on maintaining healthy, safe, and comfortable menstrual hygiene.
“We want to ensure that women not only understand their reproductive health rights, but also become aware of product choices that can better support their health,” Yessy said.
During the event, WCC Palembang introduced Cindo-Pads as an alternative menstrual product that can be washed and reused. Besides being environmentally friendly, reusable cloth pads are considered more economical than disposable sanitary pads because they can be used repeatedly with proper care.
According to WCC Palembang, promoting reusable cloth pads is also expected to help reduce plastic waste generated by disposable menstrual products while providing an affordable option for women with limited access to menstrual health products.
In addition to introducing Cindo-Pads, participants received education on proper menstrual hygiene, the importance of changing sanitary pads regularly, and recognizing warning signs of reproductive health problems. The session also sought to address persistent myths and social stigma surrounding menstruation, which often discourage women and girls from openly discussing their reproductive health.
The awareness campaign also provided an interactive forum where participants could ask questions and share experiences regarding the use and maintenance of reusable cloth pads. One participant, Fairuz, a law student at Sriwijaya University, said the event had broadened her understanding of menstrual health products.
“I just learned that cloth sanitary pads can be reused and are healthier. This information is very helpful for me and my friends, and it gives us more confidence during menstruation,” she said.
WCC Palembang emphasized that fulfilling sexual and reproductive health rights goes beyond providing access to health products. It also requires accurate knowledge about the body and women’s rights. Through this campaign, WCC Palembang called on all stakeholders to support efforts to improve women’s reproductive health so they can become healthier, more empowered, and better protected.
