Jakarta Timur, Warganet – Pondok Kopi Urban Village has set an ambitious target of eliminating school dropouts and ensuring all residents have completed basic education by 2027. The initiative is being pursued through the Community Learning Center (PKBM) Equivalency Education Program, offering Packages A, B, and C in collaboration with Nara Kreatif and the Pondok Kopi Community Consultative Council (LMK).
The commitment was reaffirmed by Pondok Kopi Head Sandy Adamsyah during the opening of the 2026–2027 academic year at RPTRA Pesona Pondok Kopi, Duren Sawit, on Saturday (August 1, 2026).
According to the official website of the East Jakarta City Administration, the program is designed to help children who have dropped out of school and residents who have yet to earn formal educational certificates.
> “I fully support this PKBM program in collaboration with Nara Kreatif and the Pondok Kopi LMK. Through this initiative, we hope there will be no more out-of-school children or residents without educational certificates in the future,” Sandy said.
A total of 64 learners have enrolled for the 2026–2027 academic year, up from 60 participants the previous year, with the current program focusing primarily on Package C (senior high school equivalency). Sandy emphasized that graduates will receive official certificates issued by Indonesia’s Ministry of Education.
> “We are grateful that classes have officially begun today. We hope all participants stay committed to their studies and graduate with excellent results. The certificates are officially issued by the Ministry of Education, while the entire learning process is fully supported by Nara Kreatif,” he added.
Beyond formal education, the village administration also plans to strengthen vocational training through partnerships with local job training centers, enabling participants to acquire practical skills for employment or entrepreneurship.
> “We do not want participants to leave with only a certificate. They should also gain practical skills that can help them secure jobs or start businesses. This year we have provided air-conditioner maintenance and culinary training, and we hope to expand these programs in the future,” Sandy explained.
Meanwhile, Pondok Kopi LMK Chair Ega Harimurti said the equivalency education program is a continuation of a partnership launched a year ago between the LMK and the village administration.
> “Today marks the opening of the 2026–2027 academic year. We are grateful for the strong public response, as enrollment has continued to increase,” he said.
Overall, around 94 residents are enrolled across Packages A, B, and C. However, due to limited classroom capacity, learning activities at the Pondok Kopi venue are currently focused on Package C participants.
